Because the Night Was Over

Walked into the dawn,
on a Monday morning,
because the night, was over.

Cut the long grass,
in the midday sun,
because the night, was over.

Sowed dandelion seeds,
at the back, of the garden,
because the night, was over.

Pulled up, the blinds
and opened the windows,
because the night, was over.

Stood beside a lake,
newly shorn, in the afternoon light,
because the night, was over.

Watched the evening glow,
on the walls,
because the night, was over.

Noticed twilight, drain,
from the wallpaper,
because the night, was over.

Was grateful, for the oncoming darkness,
knowing, it would, be over soon,
that it was just, a matter of time,
before the night, was over, again.
